Sometimes I think it's a blessing, sometimes I think it's a curse. I love my dogs more than most people, they're the first thing I want to see when I get home from flying! February 23rd Max got hit by a car out in front of our house and it turned out to be a very very sad week at the Earl home. We buried him back behind the fence in an old sheet that used to be my Grandma Foxes. I collected his little green Christmas trees he loved to chew on, some of his favorite bones he'd hid in his house, the flowers our sweet neighbor gave us the day he died, and placed it all around him in his sheet. Trevor even put him facing the East, he says "so when the resurrection comes Max can just stand up and he'll be facing the right direction" (Lindsey has always told me Trevor is a "crazy dog lady" in a mans body...and that proved it). Trevors aunt Tammy at the vets office gave me this poem when she heard about it...call me the crazy dog lady, I don't care, I'm excited to see my Maxi-moo again someday.
Just this side of heaven lies the Rainbow Bridge.
When a beloved pet dies, it goes to the Rainbow Bridge. It makes friends
with other animals and frolics over rolling hills and peaceful, lush meadows of
green.
Our pets do not thirst or hunger. The old and sick are made young
once more; the maimed and the ill become healed and strong. They are as healthy
and playful as we remember them in days gone by.
Though happy and
content, they still miss someone very special, someone they had to leave behind.
Together, the animals chase and play, but the day comes when a pet will
suddenly stop and look into the distance...bright eyes intent, eager body
quivering. Suddenly recognizing you, your pet bounds quickly across the green
fields and into your embrace. You celebrate in joyous reunion. You will never
again separate. Happy tears and kisses are warm and plenty; your hands touch the
face you missed. You look once more into the loving eyes of your pet and know
you never really parted. You realize that though out of sight, your love had
been remembered.

I was choked up reading what you wrote, and then the poem just made the tears flow. We have a dog we had to put down 2 1/2 yrs ago, and I can't wait to see him either. I know how ya feel. Sorry for your loss. <3
